Do Tinted Windows Affect Range?

Heading

Technically they may, but probably not enough to worry about.

Tinting car windows is usually a cosmetic decision. But, if the tinting is dark enough to keep out - or in - thermal radiation (aka heat), it may have a very moderate effect on your climate control use, and thus your range.

By blocking the sun from pouring into the car's cabin and heating up the internal temperature, tinted windows may help to reduce the amount that EV drivers will have to run the AC, thus saving battery capacity on that drive. In the winter, that same tint will prevent heat loss from your heating system. The less work the battery has to put into heating or cooling your cabin or your body, the more energy your battery will have for driving.

The thing to keep in mind is that not all tint films are made the same and they will have a wide range in insulation, UV blocking, and infrared blocking properties. A good tint installation provider should be able to provide you with material data sheets for the products they use.
