Virtual Key is the name of Teslas new permission feature – it is not an actual key to your car. By switching to Tesla Virtual Key, we will continue to securely collect the same battery and charging data that powers your personalized insights. Plus, in the future, it will allow us to provide more in-depth and accurate data.
Despite the name "virtual key," Recurrent maintains the same permissions you originally granted, which are read-only and give us charging information only. Permission can be revoked at any time directly from the Tesla app. As always, you're in control of your own vehicle and your own data.
Do I need to switch to Virtual Key?
If you are a Tesla owners who needs to install a Tesla Virtual Key, the following will display in your Driver Dashboard.
Recurrent gets data from your car 3x/day, so if you add the virtual key and the message still appears, it should update within a few hours.
