EV Shoppers Have Range Questions That Dealers Can Answer
Recurrent’s research team surveyed 300 in-market EV shoppers to understand what influences their trust, confidence, and readiness to buy.
The results show a clear message to dealerships: transparency sells.
1. Shoppers want to base decisions on real-world data.
When asked “How much do you trust advertised range (EPA rating)?”, shoppers said:
- 47% – Fully trust
- 53% – Do not fully trust
In other words, half of EV shoppers still have lingering doubts about official range numbers, and want more personalized, real-world context before buying.
When asked what would most increase their confidence in EV range:
- 69% want to understand how range changes with mileage
- 64% want insight into how range changes as a car gets older
- 58% want clarity on how manufacturers calculate and display range
- 57% want to know how range changes in different weather
These are exactly the questions Recurrent answers through real-world data from more than 30,000 EVs and 1 billion miles on the road.
2. EV-specific data is the path trust and purchase readiness.
In a related study, 46% of shoppers said EV-specific information made them trust the dealership more, while another 40% said it made them more ready to buy.
Shoppers who see detailed EV information trust both the car and the seller — accelerating purchase decisions and boosting engagement with your listings.
