How often do you need to replace an EV battery?

Most likely, you will never need to replace your EV battery.

In fact, electric vehicle batteries are holding up longer than many people expected.

Just how long will they last?

We don't really know yet. Our best guesses about EV battery lifespans come from looking at degradation in cars on the road. However, even that approach has its issues, since most EVs have been on the road well under six years. In fact, with almost 50% sold in 2022 and 2023.

EV batteries are designed to power a vehicle for 10 to 20 years without repair or replacement. Battery replacements in the first 10 years are rare outside of large, publicized recalls. The likelihood that a battery needs to be replaced varies by manufacturer, battery technology, vehicle usage, and charging behavior.
